ABC reported from Port Hedland, WA, where a new recycling facility uses a “T‑rex” machine to process giant off‑the‑road (OTR) mining tyres. Almost 95 % of mining tyres were previously buried; the facility has prevented 1,500 tonnes from being buried and plans to recycle up to 30,000 tonnes annually. TSA’s Lina Goodman said that burying tyres is “no longer good enough” and called for national regulations to prohibit pit burial.
